Compare the market meerkat Oleg Orlov discovers “Savings Sleepers”

The Compare the Market financial comparison platform highlights a key time to save money that most of us miss when we receive an insurance renewal notice in the second phase of its current campaign.

The campaign, created by creative agency VCCP, shows why doing nothing can mean paying more than you need to for the same insurance.

In TVC, viewers see the young meerkat Oleg Orlov, continuing his introduction into the family business.

This time, Oleg goes around the research wing where he discovers the “Savings Sleepers”, people who don’t take the time to check if they are not overcharged during their insurance renewals.

After an alarming moment, “waking up” a test subject, the meerkats are safely in control with a better offer from Compare the Market.

“Our new campaign is a rallying cry for all Australians to wake up and check their insurance renewal notice,” said Michael Goodhew, Managing Director of Compare the Market.

“By visiting Compare the Market to look for a better deal, Australians can avoid the rage for renewal.

“As of July 1, all auto and home insurance companies must show their customers their new insurance quote right next to the previous premium. With these changes, consumers will be more attentive than ever to their insurance costs.

“Building on our best performance in the general insurance industry since our inception in 2013, we expect consumers to turn to Compare the Market more than ever as the primary market connecting buyers to insurers.

The campaign will be broadcast on television, outdoor posters, radio, online video and social media.

“The campaign captures the reality of our brand message in its simplest form: ‘It’s worth comparing,” said VCCP Creative Director Paul Sharp.

Savings Sleeper aired on TV Sunday, July 4.
