DMHC Seeks Provider Feedback on Improving Behavioral Health Care Delivery

The California Department of Managed Health Care (DMHC) is seeking providers willing to participate in interviews to help assess the barriers and challenges providers face in providing behavioral health services. In 2021, DMHC’s Plans Investigations Division began conducting investigations of all commercial full-service health plans regulated by DMHC to identify systemic changes that could be made to improve health care delivery. behavioral.

DMHC plans to conduct an average of five surveys per year. The five health plans to study in 2022 are:

  • Alameda Health Alliance
  • California Blue Cross (Anthem Blue Cross)
  • Kaiser, Inc. (Kaiser Permanente) Foundation Health Plan
  • State-of-the-art health plan
  • western health benefit

DMHC notes that these investigations will be do not include the Medi-Cal managed care population.

The department is looking for providers willing to participate in interviews conducted by DMHC as part of the surveys for the five health plans listed above. The interviews will help DMHC gain a comprehensive understanding of provider-specific barriers and challenges. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, interviews conducted in 2022 will likely be conducted by telephone or videoconference.

Providers who have opted out of contracting with the five health plans above, or contracted providers who have experienced barriers and challenges providing behavioral health services to their patients over the past two years, and who wish to participate in these interviews should contact the DMHC at [email protected] or (279) 666-5858.
