The central government recently announced that the deadline for retirees to submit their life certificates has been extended. The Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW) said in a statement dated December 1, 2021 that “given the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic in various states and given the vulnerability of the elderly population to the Corona virus , it has now been decided to extend the existing deadline for the presentation of the certificate of life for all age groups of retirees from 11/30/2021. Now all central government retirees can submit a certificate of life until December 31, 2021. During this extended period, the pension will continue to be paid by the Pensions Authority (PDA) without interruption. “As a result, pension policyholders and staff of the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) can submit their Aadhaar based life certificate online from the comfort of their home.

Way to Obtain or Submit Aadhaar Based Digital Life Certificate Online

Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) policyholders can submit their life certificates from the comfort of their own home. It is no longer necessary to visit their local LIC office for the same. They can continue to receive their pension by submitting their digital life certificate using the new LIC Jeevan Saakshya mobile app with just a few clicks. All they need to do is download the app from the Google Play Store. Here are some prerequisites for submitting a life certificate using this app.

• The insured’s Aadhaar number must be linked to their mobile number.
• The policyholder should keep their Aadhaar number and retirement policy details handy as these details need to be submitted after installing the app.
• The retiree’s smartphone must have a selfie camera and an active internet connection to complete the process of obtaining or submitting their digital life certificate.

Steps to Get Aadhaar Based Life Certificate Using LIC Jeevan Saakshya App

• Visit https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lic.dl and press “Install” to download the Jeevan Saakshya LIC app.
• Now enter your mobile phone number or your e-mail address in order to register on the application.
• Now create a 4-digit MPIN and confirm it.
• Enter the 4-digit MPIN and press “Connect”.
• Now in the “Retired” section, click on your selfie and upload it.
• Enter your pension / pension number, your date of birth and select your pension type.
• Click “Submit” and you will be able to view your digital life certificate after successful verification of the received OTP on your cell phone number or registered email address.

Steps to Submit Aadhaar Based Life Certificate Using LIC Jeevan Saakshya App

• Open the LIC Jeevan Saakshya app on your mobile and enter the 4-digit MPIN to connect.
• Now tap on the “Facilitator” section and provide the required information about the facilitator.
• This is a feature that allows a person who is neither an Annuitant nor a Staff Pensioner to assist them in submitting the Life Certificate.
• Now enter the Aadhaar number and policy details of the annuitant / pensioner.
• You will now get a one-time password on your registered cell phone number.
• Enter the OTP in the required space on the app, verify it and capture a photo of the annuitant or retiree.
• Submit the details and you’re done.
