Hundreds of polling centers open for Tuesday’s primary

LOS ANGELES (CNS) — 522 additional voting centers are open across Los Angeles County on the second weekend of early voting for Tuesday’s primary, officials said Saturday.

A total of 642 voting centers are now open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. for safe in-person voting or returning a completed absentee ballot, county clerk/county clerk Dean Logan announced. .

Registered voters who have received mail-in ballots can return their ballots by mail by Tuesday, drop them off at a voting center or an official mail-in ballot drop box, which can be found here.

People who missed the registration deadline can still register at any LA County voting center through June 7. Once registered, voters will receive a conditional registration ballot to vote. The ballot will be counted once it has been verified. More information on the conditional voter registration process is available here.

Los Angeles voters will decide citywide races for mayor, comptroller and city attorney, as well as city council districts 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13 and 15 , while LA County voters will decide whether Sheriff Alex Villanueva gets another four-year term. Two of the county board of supervisors’ five seats are also on the ballot.

The primary also includes elections for governor, U.S. Senate, lieutenant governor, secretary of state, state comptroller, treasurer, attorney general, insurance commissioner, state council member of equalization, the state superintendent of public instruction, the U.S. representative in Congress, the state senator. and member of the national assembly, as well as other local candidates.

The top two candidates from each race will continue to a runoff in November, unless a candidate receives more than 50% of the vote in the primary. Elections for Los Angeles City Council Districts 1, 3, 7 and 9 include only two candidates and will be decided in June.
