Dollar General is delighted to announce that its store at 3785 Hwy 192 in Somerset is now open.

DG Stores is proud to provide area residents with an affordable and convenient store location to purchase household essentials including food, cleaning supplies, paper products, over-the-counter medications, hygiene, baby items and more as part of its mission to serve others. In addition to the national and private label products that customers trust from Dollar General, the new Somerset location features the company’s stylish and trendy new decor and an expanded selection of party prep. Regular hours of operation can be found through the Dollar General app.

To commemorate the opening of DG’s new site in Somerset, Dollar General plans to donate 100 new books to a nearby primary school for the benefit of pupils in kindergarten to grade five. Through the partnership with the Kellogg Company, the donation will be part of a planned donation of more than 100,000 books across the country to celebrate the opening of new DG stores.

Additionally, DG strives to be a good neighbor and is committed to the communities he proudly calls home, as evidenced by his unwavering support of literacy and education initiatives through the Dollar General Literacy Foundation. The addition of the Somerset store opens the opportunity for schools, nonprofit organizations and libraries within a 15-mile radius of the store to apply for grants from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation. Since its inception in 1993, the Dollar General Literacy Foundation has awarded more than $203 million in grants to nonprofit organizations, helping more than 14.8 million people take their first steps toward literacy or training keep on going. Dollar General plans to create new jobs in the Somerset community, as the store is expected to employ approximately six to 10 people, depending on the store’s individual needs.
