Phoenix: Recruits Senior Executives to Bulk Purchase Annuities Team

Phoenix Group (“Phoenix”), the UK’s largest long-term savings and retirement company, today announced five new appointments to its Bulk Purchase Annuities team. Mark Fenlon joined the team to lead the Annuity Client Services team, Matt Richards and Rhian Littlewood as Senior Directors of Business Development and Jack Hill as Senior Director of Underwriting. Charlotte Fletcher also joins the company as a business development actuary.

Phoenix continues to develop and grow its expert bulk purchase annuities franchise, focusing on value-driven transactions, broadening its proposition and expanding its operating model. Mark, Matt, Rhian and Jack join the Bulk Purchase Annuities team with over a decade of risk reduction experience each.

Mark joined the Aviva team, where he was responsible for growing and leading BPA operations and reinsurance operations. Leading the Annuity Client Services team, Mark will be responsible for all aftermarket elements of our annuity transactions, ensuring an optimal operating model to provide clients with a flexible and seamless experience.

Matt joins the team after 10 years in the Origination team at Pension Insurance Corporation, where he was responsible for the management, structuring and execution of buyout, buyout and captive reinsurance operations. Rhian brings a decade of consulting experience, having previously worked in the risk resolution team at Aon advising and executing bulk annuity contracts for pension plans. Matt and Rhian will share responsibility for leading the new business transactions team.

Jack joined the Mercer team where he was director of the risk transfer team, specializing in bulk annuity transactions, longevity swaps, liability management exercises and advice to pension plans on the long-term strategy. Jack will focus on improving the business aspects of the BPA business, including expanding the BPA product offering.
