Jeddah – The Saudi Central Bank (SCB) and the Council of Cooperative Health Insurance (CCHI) announced the approval of a new travel insurance product for Saudi citizens traveling abroad, which includes coverage for the risks of infection by the coronavirus (COVID-19).

The new product aims to provide the necessary insurance coverage for citizens traveling abroad to ensure smooth access to appropriate health care for policyholders infected with COVID-19 while traveling abroad.

The product also covers life-threatening medical cases in various countries around the world and travel-related risks, including quarantine procedures, canceled or missing trips, medical expenses and medical evacuations in the event of an emergency.

Approval has also been issued for the insurance company Tawuniya to offer this product through a common insurance pool, in order to facilitate citizens’ access to this insurance policy through a unified mechanism through the various sales channels available. .

The Saudi Central Bank and the Co-operative Health Insurance Board urge the public to follow precautionary and preventive measures while traveling and abide by instructions issued by relevant authorities, wishing everyone’s safety. – SPA
