Kwara Gov’s wife secures health insurance for 100 sickle cell patients

Kwara State Governor’s wife, Dr Olufolake AbdulRazaq, has taken out health insurance coverage for 100 people living with sickle cell disease.

Ms AbdulRazaq’s gesture also covers sickle cell survivors who had been under the regime since last year.

While presenting health insurance coverage to beneficiaries at an event commemorating Sickle Cell Day 2022 in Ilorin, the state capital, the Governor’s wife observed that the social and economic burden that the management of sickle cell disease places a tremendous burden on survivors and families.

Represented by the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Raji Rasaq, Ms. AbdulRazaq said the presentation of the insurance cover would go a long way in supporting the care and management of beneficiary survivors while appealing to people of spirit public to be inspired by this initiative.

The Executive Secretary of Kwara State Health Insurance Agency, Dr. Olubunmi Jetawo highlighted the challenges faced by people living with sickle cell disease and commended the First Lady for her kind gesture.

A sickle cell survivor, Mrs. Titi Bamidele, on behalf of the beneficiaries, thanked Mrs. AbdulRazaq and the Ajike People Support Center for their kind gesture.
