Prior to joining Zurich, Plant was the group executive insurance company for icare. He also spent seven years between 2009 and 2016 in a number of leadership roles at QBE, including Managing Director of Seniors Insurance, Executive Managing Director of Partner and Specialty Companies, and CEO of Australian and New Zealand Operations. He has also held positions at Swiss Re and Australian Eagle Insurance.

By joining IAG before the end of 2021, Plant will be responsible for the governance of the group through underwriting, complaints and customer experience. He will also be responsible for the development and implementation of the insurance giant’s strategy, innovation and venture capital activities.

Yesterday, Zurich announced Plant’s replacement as the country’s CEO for life and investment insurance (L&I) and general insurance (GI) businesses in Australia and New Zealand.

Justin Delaney joined Zurich Australia in December 2019 as Managing Director of L&I. In his new role, he will be assisted by Sean Walker, General Insurance Underwriting Director for Australia and New Zealand, in managing the IM business.
