WEST DES MOINES, Iowa, July 15, 2021 / PRNewswire / – John Melvin will join Sammons Financial Group as Senior Vice President and Chief Investment Officer (CIO) on August 9, 2021.

Melvin will report directly to Dinshaw and become a member of the company’s management team. He will be responsible for creating and improving the company’s investment vision to support continued growth and ensure that Sammons Financial Group’s vision is coordinated with all other facets of the business.
Melvin joins Sammons Financial Group from Hartford Investment Management Company (HIMCO) where, for the past six years, he has been Director of IT and, previously, Head of Portfolio Management. In this capacity, he was responsible for The Hartford’s investment strategy.
Prior to The Hartford, Melvin served as CIO of Goldman Sachs Insurance Asset Management, overseeing the company’s global insurance assets and fixed income portfolio. He was also Managing Director and Head of Fixed Income Insurance, Americas, for Deutsche Bank.
Melvin holds a Masters of Business Administration in Finance from the Stern School of Business at New York University and an undergraduate degree in Business and Economics from Lehigh University.
